This is the most shocking and painful experience I’ve ever had. I never thought something like this could happen to me — especially in a house I was paying rent to live in.
I moved into the apartment just five months ago. It was a self-contained room in a compound with four tenants. The landlady lived in the main house with her son, whom I later found out was in his early 20s. At first, everything seemed normal. The environment was peaceful, and I even liked how the landlady treated me like her daughter.
But behind that peace was a dark secret that almost ruined my life.
🛁 It Started with Small Signs…
About a month ago, I started to feel uncomfortable. I noticed that anytime I went into the bathroom, I felt like someone was watching me. I even joked with my friend on the phone that maybe the "bush baby" spirit was following me. 😅 But deep down, I was uneasy.
I would clean the bathroom tiles, only to see strange stains or fingerprints later in the day. One evening, I even saw a small hole close to the top corner of the bathroom wall — but I told myself it was nothing.
If only I had taken it seriously that day.
🔥 The Night I Found Out the Truth
That night, the power had gone off around 9 p.m., but I needed to charge my phone urgently. The landlady usually allowed me to charge in their sitting room when the generator was on, so I knocked. The landlady wasn’t around, but her son opened the door and allowed me in.
He acted strange. Fidgeting, sweating, and looking at me like he was hiding something. I greeted him and was about to plug my phone when I saw something on his phone screen.
He was watching a video — a video of me. Naked. Bathing in the bathroom. 😭
My heart stopped. I screamed, “What is that???”
He tried to hide the phone, but it was too late. I had seen it clearly. It was me. It was my body. It was my privacy he had stolen!
🤬 I Lost Control
Tears filled my eyes instantly. I felt like the floor should just open up and swallow me. I grabbed his phone and ran outside shouting, “Help! Help! He recorded me! He videoed me in the bathroom!”
Neighbors rushed out. I was shaking, crying, and shouting. People gathered and forced the boy to confess. He later admitted that he secretly placed a small spy camera inside the bathroom window, hidden behind a vent cover. He would later collect the footage on his phone.
He had been doing it for weeks.
🚔 What Happened After
The neighbors were furious. Some of them almost beat him up, but I begged them not to. I just wanted justice.
The matter was taken to the police station that night. He was arrested and his phone was seized. The videos were found. Sadly, I wasn’t the only victim — there were clips of another tenant who had moved out two months earlier.
The landlady collapsed when she heard. She kept crying and apologizing, begging me not to press charges.
But I had to.
💡 Lesson for Everyone (Especially Ladies)
As painful as this is to share, I believe it’s important. Many women are being secretly filmed without their knowledge — in bathrooms, changing rooms, hotels, and even their own homes.
Here are some important lessons I want every woman (and man) to learn:
✅ Always check your bathroom and room for hidden cameras — especially vents, sockets, smoke detectors, mirrors, or any strange hole.
✅ Use your phone’s flashlight or camera to detect hidden lenses (cameras often reflect light).
✅ If you’re staying in a new place, inspect the bathroom thoroughly. Even behind curtains, towel holders, etc.
✅ Trust your instincts. If you feel like something is wrong, don’t ignore it.
✅ Speak up. Don’t allow fear or shame to silence you. What happened to me can happen to anyone.

👩⚖️ Justice and Healing
As of now, the boy is still in police custody. I have filed a case against him, and I plan to follow it through. I’m currently going through therapy, and I’m gradually healing. But the scars are there.
I’m also working with a local women’s rights group to raise awareness on this issue and support victims.
Please, if you’re reading this, stay alert. Stay safe. And share this story to warn others. No one deserves to go through this trauma.
